If you have some experience playing craps, you must have noticed the Big Six and Big Eight, that are to be found at both ends of the table.
A player can choose either the 6 or 8 being rolled before the shooter throws a seven. These wagers are usually avoided by experienced craps players since they pay even money (1:1) while a player can make place bets on the 6 or the 8, which pay more (7:6). Some casinos (especially all those in Atlantic City) do not even offer the Big 6 & 8. The bets are located in the corners behind the pass line, and bets may be placed directly by players. What is more, since making a Place bet on 6 or 8 is a better option as the payoffs you are offered are 7 to 6 (7:6), there is simply no reason why you should make a Big Six or a Big Eight Bet that turn out to be less advantageous for craps lovers. The Big Six and the Place Bets Compared. Now, we will compare the Big Six bet and the Place bet so.
- What are the Big Six and Big Eight bet? In simplest terms, it is a play in craps when a player bets whether a six or an eight will be rolled before the seven. Basically, the dice are rolled until a six or seven comes up and the player wins or loses. With the Big Six, if the six comes before the seven, the player wins.
- The shooter rolls an 8 with the dice combination of 4-4. The stickman shouts, “Hard eight, eight the hard way!” Great call! You knew that Hard 8 was going to hit. The 8 doesn’t matter for your Pass Line with Odds bets because the point is 6, but your Hard 8 bet wins because the 4-4 combination showed.
Experienced players have learned to be cautious when it comes to these bets because if you do not use them properly, you expose your bankroll to significant risk. Yet, the bet seems attractive at a first glance because apart from 7, the other two numbers that are frequently rolled are 6 and 8.

Basically, the player bets that either 6 or 8 will be rolled before 7 is rolled. Similarly to the pass line bet, the player is required to place the desired amount of chips into the designated area on the table and keep their fingers crossed that their numbers will be rolled.
The big 6 is a wager that 6 will be rolled before 7.
The dice are rolled as many times as necessary until the player wins or loses. If 7 comes out before 6, you lose. The big 8 wagers are processed in the same manner. Players bet that 8 will be rolled before 7. In case any other number is rolled, the dice are rolled again. If 8 is actually rolled before 7, you win, but if the opposite scenario occurs, you lose your wager.
However, it is important to know that there is a significant difference in payouts between the place bet and the Big Six and Eight. The payout for a place bet on the 6 and 8 is 7:6, while the payout for the big 6 and 8 is 1:1.
In other words, a payout 1:1 means that you lose 6 bets for every 5 bets you win. The same applies to the place bets but the 7:6 payout makes it possible to keep more of your chips as you lose one of them for every 66 chips you wagered. If you wager on the Big Six and Eight, you lose one chip per every 11 wagered.
If you place bets on 6 and 8, the house edge reaches a modest 1.5%, but it jumps to a solid 9% when you bet on the Big Six and Eight. Spela gratis roulette. Despite being located in different areas on the layout, the two bets are practically the same.
Players who do not have enough experience in playing craps seem to be lured by the big 6 and 8 bets because of the relatively high probability of rolling these numbers. However, it seems impractical to opt for the Big Six and Eight bet and give the house a 9% advantage instead of making the same bet as a place bet and enhance your chances of turning a profit.
The dealer controls the place bet and places it in the designated area, which basically eliminates any arguments related to the players who get paid. In most cases, players are not well-informed about the difference between these bets.
Many players wonder about whether these bets are effective on the come out roll.
Well, there is not a definite answer to that question. The Big Six and Eight are always working, but that statement is not always applicable to the place 6 and 8. It depends on the casino you have chosen, as some do not offer such a bet. For example, Atlantic City-based casinos do not offer the Big Six and Eight bet and offer only place bets.

Big Six Big Eight Craps
While in Vegas the week following Father's Day (see my other post concerning how I 'crashed' a $50 craps game), I noticed that the layout had Big 6 and Big 8 on them. Have these always been there? I don't remember them being on the layout in recent years - in fact, I vaguely remember hearing something about the bets being illegal as they were misleading the players into making worse-odds versions of placing the 6 and 8.
This was at the Rio - I didn't pay too much attention to the tables at the other casinos.

They are illegal in AC but alive and well in Vegas.

Yeah, they've always been illegal in AC.I've never seen them at Sands PA. I have a feeling that PA copied the wording of AC's gaming rules, so it may be illegal in PA as well.
I haven't seen them in CT either.
But, yeah, they're alive and well in Vegas.

I HAVE seen other bets in that corner. Specifically a 6-7-8 bet that pays even money if the next roll is 6, 7 or 8, and double for a hard 6 or hard 8. (My simple math says it's a zero edge bet. That can't be right, can it?)

Nah, it's the same as the field with 2/12 only double (5.56% 14 even money, 2 double and 20 losses). In Indiana I saw Low Dice and High Dice there.

Vegas or should I say NV, is the wild, wild west anything goes on the craps table, they can make up their rules for each casino, there is nothing in the gaming rules on what a casino can and can't do on the craps tables, although they do have to run what bets they are going to have on the table through gaming.Note, all my post start with this is just my opinion..! You do good brada .! superrick Winning comes from knowledge and skill when your betting and not reading fiction http://procraps4u2.myfanforum.org/index.php ..

These pay even money? What a rip off!

Cash winning apps. Total rewards games. These pay even money? What a rip off!
When I teach craps at parties I tell people they are the stupidest bet in the casino. 15 inches away you get better odds for the same outcome. No different than if you had to pay 10% more for a Big Mac at the drive-thru instead of at the counter.

AZ -Don't use that analogy. Theres a convenience factor with drive thru.
Instead, compare the Value Menu to ordering the individual items.
On a side note: be careful with that. Some math challenged fast food managers price the 'value' meal higher than the sum on the items!

As there is with the self-serve Big 6/8.
When I explain it I simply say the bet is on the board for those who do not know the game or/and are too intimidated to talk to a dealer.

I think it is more savvy managers pricing for math-challenged customers. Or those just in a hurry.
